My fascination with the Old Masters began at an early age. There is something uniquely compelling in the way a beautiful object – a painting – merges with the power of historical storytelling. That combination has always captivated me.
In 1995, as a young student, I took the night bus to London just to witness a Rembrandt come under the hammer. It was there, in the charged atmosphere of the auction room, that I first experienced how vividly the additional layers of the trade bring a work to life. Studying provenance is like tracing an object's long journey through the centuries: often admired, sometimes neglected, occasionally forgotten, until a new custodian takes it into care.
When the beauty of the painting and the richness of its history come together, the storytelling becomes almost tangible, vivid. That is what truly fuels my passion.
I am not a professional art dealer, but an active collector and scholar. I love immersing myself in historical auction records, the RKD databases, and countless other sources, constantly learning and allowing myself to be fascinated.
My collecting strategy is clearly reflected in the works we have on offer: a focused selection of Dutch and Flemish Old Masters in the accessible price range below €15,000. For me, the quality of the painting is every bit as important as its storytelling potential. The richer the provenance, the better. If a work carries a royal connection, has passed through museum collections, or belonged to first-grade collectors, that is a very special bonus.
I warmly invite you to visit my blog section, the Substack, and the Instagram account. It is there that this passion continues to live on. There I reflect on works that align with my strategy as they appear on the market – and sometimes, those very pieces find their way into our "Available Works" section.
